Gran Alacant was built on the slope of the Santa Pola headland, and almost every house looks at the sea. Below it lies Carabassí — a beach of natural dunes and fine sand, backed by the Clot de Galvany wetland reserve where you can walk among reeds and see herons.
It is a residential place rather than a town: gated urbanisations with pools, a commercial centre, supermarkets, and a bus down to Alicante. The airport is ten minutes away, which changes how often you come.
Here you will feel at home if you want a sea view, a dune beach below and an airport close enough for a weekend.
