Calpe

29 listings available

You see the Peñón de Ifach long before you arrive — a great grey rock standing in the water, protected as a natural park, with flamingos on the salt lake behind it. Calpe grew around it: two generous sandy bays, a working fishing port with a daily auction, and an old town of narrow painted streets on the hill.

It is a town of contrasts. Modern apartment towers along Arenal beach, Roman ruins by the water, and villa neighbourhoods climbing the hills behind with the whole bay in view.
